A Quick Update

I’ve been better…
I like to get something up on the blog every three days or so, so if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, I’ve got one word for ya: bronchitis.

Okay, two words: bronchitis and deadline. Hell of a combination. As the levaquin works its magic, two articles should be forthcoming rather soon. First, a discussion of whether or not it’s a good idea to “write to the marketplace”, and then an examination of so-called “orphan works” and how upcoming legislation may further cement the authorship rights of screenwriters in the U.S.

I’m sure you don’t need to be reminded that your body is telling you something.

Priority is taking care of the precious gift of health.

Be well,

Daniel

Take yer time Craig.

That levaquin crap really does work wonders. Give it a few days to work its magic, and THEN worry about puttin up a new article. In the mean time we can all go play in the forums section for a while.

Seriously bro, which do you think we’d all rather see? A new article? Or hearin that you’re all better?

Sleeeep my brother sleeeep.

Hope you feel better. If the levaquin gets too expensive, I just got some e-mail about a website where you can buy it cheap. (Or, wait. Maybe that’s “levitra.”)

In early July I had a monster sinus headache which turned into a grippe/cold/bronchitis/you name it, so you have my sympathy. Hope you feel better soon.

Nice lung shot. I hope mine are all pretty and pink like that. Feel better soon! And you definately hooked me with the coming attractions. Although I don’t have a clue what “orphan works” are.

Lola…

Check this out.

…well I guess you’ll have to copy and paste that link…

Thanks, Trey. That should be interesting. I wonder what the definition of ‘hard to locate’ will be? I read a quote yesterday: the battle for the world is the battle for definitions.

The IRS once said I was hard to find. Cost me two grand. And I was at the address I had been at for three years — filing and paying income tax.

Craig Mazin said:

Thanks for all the nice comments. I’m feeling much better now.

Trey, the comment section uses HTML tags rather than BBCode tags. I’ll go and fix the link for ya.

Craig Mazin said:

Huh. Maybe you can’t use links in comments. :(

The answers are forthcoming anyway. :)

What are orphan works?

According to http://orphanworks.org/…

Orphan works are — broadly speaking — any copyrighted works where the rights-holder is hard to find. Because the cost of finding the owner is so high, creators can’t build on orphan works, even when they’d be willing to pay to use them. In many cases the works were abandoned because they no longer produced any income. In most cases, rights holders, once found, are delighted to have their work used.

Craig, glad to hear you’re feeling better… if you’d like, since I missed offering well-wishes, this time around, you can cozy back up to whatever wildflower started the whole thing, cough up another lung, and — my word, as a country gentleman — I’ll wander over into the “get well” line, a bit sooner. :)

Hi-

Sorry, off topic. I posted a question in the subtle hero post.

Please check it out Craig.

Thanks
